Suffering is an integral part of life and scripture. Suffering is not meaningless but is bound intricately into an overall understanding of the sovereignty of God and the manifestation of His glory. There are specific reasons for suffering and there is a place for compassion and intercession during suffering. Understanding life and meaningful value systems is indelibly linked to a comprehension of suffering. It is a normal experience of life and must be understood in the context of scriptural truth. Suffering provides a major door of opportunity for the church to carry out its mandate to teach all nations.
